Initially launching in the United Kingdom, the MTN will be a testbed for developing live pilot applications and use cases with financial institutions, fintechs, and central banks. Mastercard aims to expand the MTN to global markets, with developers encouraged to build apps on their permissioned blockchain, which is built on Ethereum.
First Leveraged BTC Futures ETF Debut Shows Moderate Performance — The Volatility Shares’ 2x Bitcoin Strategy ETF (BITX) had above-average trading volumes on its first day of trading, ranking 30th out of 195 ETFs introduced in 2023. Despite its respectable performance, BITX fell significantly short of the trading volumes achieved by the first bitcoin futures ETF launched in 2021. The agreement, which involves sharing information about market trading activity and customer identification, aims to mitigate the risk of market manipulation. With ARK’s application filed earlier than BlackRock’s, it is now considered in a favorable position for potential approval as the first spot bitcoin ETF in the U.S.
